Frau Line Special Edition 4-Pack

$150.00

(Includes 2 bottles of dessert Riesling and 2 bottles of Sparkling Wine)

Latest from the Frau Line family of wines – introducing a limited-edition Riesling and Sparkling Wine 4-pack! Our second release includes some truly unique, hand-crafted wines from the Willamette Valley for the perfect holiday season pairing.

The Late Harvest Riesling, hand-picked from a small block of old-vine Riesling planted in 1972, is made in the traditional German-style. Clusters are individually selected for the quality and maturity required for a stunning dessert wine. Bright-gold in color and offers generous notes of candied lemon and ginger. Classic aromas of jasmine, lanolin and honey speak to the influence of extended hang-time on the vine. The naturally high acidity adds balance and lift to the residual sugar. Pairs beautifully with rich cheeses and desserts — especially crème brûlée.

Our Brut Sparkling Wine is crafted in the traditional Méthode Champenoise. Opens with persistent bubbles, bright acidity and a medley of toast, mineral and tart fruits. Delicious, affable and the perfect reason to celebrate! Farmed sustainably, aged on lees, and disgorged by hand in small batch quantities.

Frau Line

Brut Sparkling Wine

Our Willamette Valley Brut, crafted in the traditional Méthode Champenoise. The Traditional Method is a labor-intensive process whereby wine undergoes a secondary fermentation inside the bottle, creating bubbles. The process begins with the addition of a solution of sugar and yeast to a bottle of still base wine. This triggers a secondary fermentation inside the bottle which produces both carbon dioxide and yeast cells, or lees. The wines will spend months, or even years, aging with the lees.  At desired maturity, the lees are collected in the neck of the bottle during the riddling process, disgorged from the bottle, and replaced with a solution of wine and sugar to slightly sweeten the finished wine and bring it into balance.

‘Late Harvest’ Riesling

Late harvest wines are made from grapes that are designated to remain on the vine after they’ve reached peak ripeness. When grapes are left hanging, they become sweeter as each individual grape dehydrates and the sugar content concentrates. Late harvest grapes (typically picked 1-2 months after the regular harvest time) are used to make wines that contain higher residual sugar than standard table wines. Certain grapes are chosen over others due to their ability to process exceptionally high-quality late harvest wines. Riesling is  an ideal grape for this style of wine because of its naturally high acidity (grapes lose acidity as they hang on the vine). The very best late harvest Riesling wines come from cool climate growing regions.
